Does my ecospace need planning permission?
In most cases, the answer is simply ‘no’ – you can order your ecospace and have it erected without any hassle at all. However, in some circumstances, such as if your ecospace exceeds certain size limits or if you live in a conservation area, planning permission may be required. You don’t have to worry though – as an architectural practice, we carry out any planning applications for you.
Why is my ecospace better than an extension?
Hmmm… Where do we start? Firstly, ecospace provides you with the flexibility of being detached from your main living space – perfect for work. It costs less than a house extension and is completed in a fraction of the time. What’s more, your ecospace has a fixed price so there’ll be no ‘extra costs’ from builders half way through.
What’s ‘eco’ about my ecospace?
Pretty much everything. Sustainable wood structure and cedar cladding, organic sedum roof, environmentally-friendly electrics and appliances, high performance insulation and double glazing, and if you use your ecospace as your workplace, it’ll do wonders for your carbon footprint too.
How big is my ecospace?
The short answer is, however big you want it. Standard sizes are 3.6 x 3m, 4.8 x 3m, 6 x 3m and 7.2 x 3m, but if you have a specific size or shape in mind, we can create it for you.
Can I have my ecospace designed to my specific requirements?
Naturally. As an architectural practice, we know everyone’s idea of their perfect ecospace is different. We can design whatever you want - whether it’s a shower room, mini-kitchen or something totally unique, just give us a call.
Is my ecospace as well built as a normal extension?
Nope - in some cases they’re even better. Ecospaces are built to modern housing standards with full high performance double glazing and insulated to extremely high standards for all round comfort and security. Basically, they’re engineered to last.
What kind of foundation will my ecospace need?
Providing the site is relatively level, our engineered system eliminates the need for a conventional concrete base and foundations. Your ecospace stands on adjustable steel shoes that bear on pre-cast concrete pads on a compacted sub-base. In other words, you won’t have to dig your whole garden up.
What about heating, lighting and electrics?
A super-efficient eco-friendly heating system and low-wattage nickel down-lighters are installed and ready-to-use - together with the electrical supply to the building, of course.
How long do I have to wait for my ecospace?
Not long. Usually within 12 weeks, depending on whether you need planning permission. The average installation time, subject to site conditions, is around 4 days.
Is my ecospace guaranteed?
It most certainly is. Every ecospace is guaranteed for 5 years as standard. Although, as they’re built to modern housing standards, they’re made to last a lifetime.
How much will my ecospace cost?
Obviously, price all depends on what you have. But to give you an idea, your average ecospace costs around £19,850, plus VAT and delivery.
